[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 1

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law, he meditates day and night” (Psalm 1:1-2)

“Therefore, the wicked will not stand in the judgment nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous, For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish” (Psalm 1:5-6)

INTRODUCTION:

“Psalms” comes from a Greek word that means “a poem sing to musical accompaniment”.  It consists of poems or songs of praise, worship, thankfulness and repentance.  The Book of Psalms is “the hymnal of the Jewish nation”.  It was adapted by the Jews for their corporate worship and personal devotion.  It has now become the Christian hymnal.

There are 150 Psalms which were written by many authors:

  1. David – 73
  2. Asaph – 12 (50. 73-83)
  3. Solomon – 2 (72, 127)
  4. Sons of Korah – 12 (42-49, 84-85, 87-88)
  5. Ethan – 1 (89)
  6. Moses – 1 (90)

Guidelines for you to have blessings in your life:

  1. Avoid walking in the counsel of the wicked
  2. Do not stand in the way of the sinners
  3. Never sit in the seat of mockers
  4. You must delight in His word and mediate His laws day & night
  5. Let your roots go deep into God’s resources of grace in order to bear fruits in season

What are the consequences of the ungodly?

  1. They are like chaff to be blown away by wind
  2. They cannot stand in the judgment nor in the assembly of the righteous
  3. They will perish.

Surrender your life to Christ.  Spend time with God’s word and mediate upon it.  Live a life separated from the defilement of the world.  And let your life be rooted in the streams of water with the hidden resources of God.[:]
