“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4)
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing” (Psalm 34:8-9)
“Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:12-14)
“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth” (Psalm 34:15-16)
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18)
“A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken” (Psalm 34:19-20)
As Saul continued to pursue David, David fled to Gath and sought the protection of the enemy. But he was not safe there. So, he pretended to be insane so that he could escape.
David wrote this Psalm to sing praises to the Lord, to glorify Him and exalt His name.
What God can do for us when we took refuge in Him.
- God will answer our call (v. 4)
- God will save us out of all trouble (v. 6)
- God will keep us with his angel encamped around us (v. 7)
- God will satisfy us with his blessings (v. 8)
David’s advices:
- Fear the Lord (v. 9)
- Seek the Lord (v. 10)
- Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies (v. 13)
- Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it (v. 14)
- Be righteous (v. 17)
