[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 38

“O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath” (Psalm 38:1)

“I wait for you, O Lord; you will answer, O Lord my God” (Psalm 38:15)

“O Lord, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God.  Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior” (Psalm 38:21-22)

DAVID GAVE A VIVID DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HE SUFFERED WHEN HE SINNED:

  1. God’s arrows were piercing him and God’s hand came down upon him (v. 2).
  2. His body was not healthy and all his bones hurt (v. 3)
  3. His guilt has overwhelmed him like a burden too heavy to bear (v. 4)
  4. His wounds were loathsome and festering (v. 5)
  5. He was brought down very low and went mourning all day long (v. 6)
  6. His back was filled with searing pain and body was no longer healthy (v. 7)
  7. He was feeble and utterly crushed goraning in anguish of heart (v. 8)
  8. He had no strength and light had gone from his eyes (v. 10)
  9. His friends and companions avoided him and his neighbors stayed far away (v. 11)
  10. People set traps to harm him and talked of his ruin (v. 12)
  11. He was like deaf man and a mute (v. 13)
  12. He was about to fall and was suffering from pain (v. 17)

But David opened up himself to the Lord.  He confessed his sins and sought for forgiveness.  God heard his cry and restored him.

Why do people sin?  Because there is pleasure in sin.  However, the pleasure of sin comes when we sow, but the pain comes when we reap.  God is holy.  He hates sin.  That is why God allows us to reap what we sow.  But God’s grace forgives us.  So, when you sin, do not give up.  Do not give in to your feelings.  Do not watch the people around you and do not listen to devil’s plot to discourage you.  Instead, confess it.  God will never leave you nor forsake you.  Trust Him to restore you.
