[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 46

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1)

“The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress”  (Psalm 46:7)

“Be still, and know that i am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10)

The Psalmist told us not to be afraid even if the earth goes away or the mountain falls apart or the sea water surging because God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

The word “trouble” in Hebrew is “in tight places”.  In other words, when you are in a difficult situation, run to God and seek refuge and strength from Him.

God is also our river.  This river came from the Holy Place – the throne of God.  Jesus has the living water of joy.  He invites us to come to Him and drink this water, which is the Holy Spirit of God.  The Word of God is the water for washing and the Spirit of God is the water for drinking.  If we drink this water, we will be refreshed and enabled.  The Holy Spirit is the perfect source of satisfaction.

The Lord Almighty promises to be with us.  He is our fortress.  He can do everything – desolutions of the earth, ending of wars, breaking of bows, shattering of spears and burning of shields or chariots.

What we need is to be still.  The Hebrew word for “be still” is “take your hands off”.  Often times, we are hands on, controlling, manipulating, plotting or scheming.  But we have to take our hands off to let God get the job done.

If you are facing a problem and do not know what to do, turn it over to the Lord.  Know that He is God.  You cannot do what only God can do.  Let him be your God in your life.  Be still and spend time with the Lord by telling Him your problem and listening for His answer.[:]
