[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 49
“For all can see that wise men die; the foolish and the senseless alike perish and leave their wealth to others” (Psalm 49:10)
“But man, despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the beast that perish” (Psalm 49:12)
“Do not be overawed when a man grows rich, when the splendor of his house increase; for he will take nothing with him when he dies, his splendor will not descond with him” (Psalm 49:16-17)
“A man who has riches without understanding is like the beast that perish” (Psalm 49:20)
This Psalm deals with both the rich and the poor, the wise and the foolish. It has two important subjects: DEATH and WEALTH.
- Wealth cannot redeem your life (v. 7)
- Wealth cannot go with you upon death (v. 11)
- Wealth cannot prevent death (vs. 12, 19)
- Wealth cannot provide permanent splendor (vs. 16-17)
Therefore, do not trust in wealth but trust in the Lord. Be a good and faithful steward of the resources that God has given you. Invest in the work of God and share with others. He can transform your wealth into blessings that will bring glory to God.[:]
