[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 50

“Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me” (Psalm 50:14-15)

“Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue” (Psalm 50:22)

“He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way, so that I may show him the salvation of God” (Psalm 50:23)

This chapter describes a court summon for God to judge two kinds of saints:

  1. Those who offer sacrifices without a sincere heart
  2. Those who profess to be Christians but practice another.

God does not need our offerings because He owns everything.  When we bring something to Him, we are giving Him what He has given us.  He wants us to thank Him for His salvation and praise Him for what He is.  He wants us to obey His word with deeds.  And He wants us to pray to Him and have a personal relationship with Him.

Our purpose in life is to glorify Him.  For God is greater, stronger and higher than any other.  He deserves to be praised and worshipped.  We praise God by showing our good works and godly worship.

Let us bring the sacrifices of thanksgiving, praise, obedience and prayer to Him.  Let us glorify His name by letting our light shine before men with good works.  And this is His promise:  “Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me (vs. 14-15)[:]
