[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 56

“When I am afraid, I will trust in you.  In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  What can mortal man do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4)

“In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise – in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  what can man do to me?” (Psalm 56:10-11)

“I am under vows to you, O God; I will present my thank offerings to you, For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life” (Psalm 56:12-13)

David wrote this Psalm when he was seized by the Philistines in Gath.  The enemies were pursuing him and the slanderers were attacking him.  They twisted his words and plotted to harm him.  They conspired, they lurked and watched his steps to take his life.

While in fear, David trusted the Lord.  He prayed for God’s interference.  He knew that God had recorded all his tears in His scroll.  Therefore, he said: “In God I trust.  I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me? (v. 11)

David ended his psalm with praise and thanks.  He praised God for being trustworthy.  He thanked God for His help and deliverance.  He had the assurance of His future care so that he might walk before God in the light of life.

God is keeping a journal about you.  He sees where you are.  He knows how your feel and hears when you call.  He will make your rough paths smooth and wipe out all your tears.  Follow David’s pattern.  (1)-pray, (2)-trust, (3)-praise, (4)-give thanks.

When you are afraid, keep this verse in mind: “In God I trust.  I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me?” (v. 1)[:]
