[:en]SCRIPTURE: PSALM 58
“The righteous will be glad when they are avenged, when they bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked. Then men will say, ‘Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth'” (Psalm 58:10-11)
The unjust rulers did not judge uprightly among men. Their heart devise injustice by promoting evil and defending the wicked. David asked God to judge the sinners and establish righteousness on earth.
David described the wicked men like the venom of a snake and cobra that did not heed the charmer. He asked God to judge them in the following manner:
- Make them toothless liars
- Let them vanish like water that flows way
- Let their arrows be blunted
- Let them be burned and melt away
- Let them be like a stillborn child that cannot see the sun
As David was God’s chosen king, he had the authority to denounce national enemies. He opposed the wickedness of this world to reveal the righteousness of God. He left all judgment to the Lord. But he did his part to express his holy anger against sin.
When you are being hurt, deceived or short-changed, accept the reality that there is no justice in this world. Although there are laws to uphold justice, but it seems that the righteous are being persecuted while the wicked are being promoted. Leave your situation with the Lord. For the Lord says vengeance is mine. Then wait on Him. He will take care as he promises to judge the earth. Your reward is yet to come. In the meantime, do your part to oppose the wickedness in this world so that you can be effective as salt of the earth and light of the world.[:]
