“Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse” (Proverbs 19:1)
“Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man’s friend deserts him” (Proverbs 19:4)
“He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers” (Proverbs 19:8)
“A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will perish” (Proverbs 19:9)
“A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense” (Proverbs 19:11)
“A foolish son is his father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping” (Proverbs 19:13)
“Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord” (Proverbs 19:14)
“He who is kind to the poor lends to the lord, and he will reward him for what he has done” (Proverbs 19:17)
“Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death” (Proverbs 19:18)
“Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise” (Proverbs 19:20)
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21)
“He who robs his father and drives out his mother is a son who brings shame and disgrace” (Proverbs 19:26)
RICH AND POOR
- The poor with blameless walk is better than the rich with perverse lips (v. 1)
- The rich has many friends but a poor man is shunned by his relatives and his friends avoid him (v. 4, 7)
- Better to be poor and honest than being rich but a liar (v. 22)
WISE AND FOOLISH
- A fool’s hearts rages against the Lord and ruins his life. The wise obeys instruction and guards his life (v. 3, 16)
- The wise has patience and overlook offense but the a foolish is hot-tempered without self-control (v.. 11, 19)
FATHER AND SON
- The father who discipline his son will help him build character but the son who robs his fathers and drives out his mother brings shame and disgrace (v. 18, 26)
- Lazy sons only bring poverty (v. 15)
- To have a fool for a son brings grief; there is no joy for the father of a fool (v. 21)
A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the one who bore him” (v. 25)
