[:en]SCRIPTURE:  PROVERBS 20

“Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise” (Proverbs 20:1)

“It is to a man’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel” (Proverbs 20:3)

“The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him” (Proverbs 20:7)

“Differing weights and differing measures – the Lord detests them both” (Proverbs 20:10)

“A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much” (Proverbs 20:19)

“If a man curses his father or mother, his lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness” (Proverbs 20:20)

“An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning will not be blessed at the end” (Proverbs 20:21)

“Do not say, ‘I’ll pay you back for this wrong!’; Wait for the lord, and he will deliver you” (Proverbs 20:22)

“Love and faithfulness keep a king safe; Through love his throne is made secure” (Proverbs 20:28)

NOBLE TEACHINGS:

  1. Whoever is led astray by wine and beer is not wise (v. 1)
  2. Avoid strife and quarrel (v. 3)
  3. Do not be lazy (v. 4)
  4. Children of a righteous man is blessed (v. 7)
  5. The Lord detests differing weights and dishonest scales (v. 10, 23)
  6. Too much sleep ends in poverty (v. 13)
  7. Lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel (v. 15)
  8. Do not put up security for a stranger (v. 16)
  9. Seek advice when making plans (v. 18)
  10. Avoid a gossiper (v. 19)
  11. If a man curses his father or mother, calamity befalls him (v. 20)
