[:en]SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 3
“Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done” (Isaiah 3:10-11)
JUDGMENT OF JERUSALEM AND JUDAH
The men of Judah – heroes, warriors, judges, prophets, soothsayers, elders, captains, counselors, skilled craftsmen, clever enchanters – trust their wealth, power and political influence. But God was going to take out His supply and support. He will replace the proud leaders with boys, children who would oppress the people. This happened because the nation sinned and kept God out of their hearts. The women of Zion were fond of beauty, fashion and wealth. They put more importance on social status, and outward appearance than inner beauty and spiritual character. That is why a day will come when all their artificial glamour would be gone. Fragrance, well-dressed hair and fine clothing will be replaced with stench, baldness and sackcloth. Their men will die in wars and they would become widows sitting on the ground mourning for their husband.
Power, prestige, wealth, beauty are all temporary. We must seek for something that has eternal value. “Set your mind on things above and not on earthly things” (Col. 3:2). Let God be your priority in everything.[:]
