[:en]SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 19
“So the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the Lord. They will worship with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the Lord and keep them. The Lord will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the Lord, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them” (Isaiah 19:21-22)
A PROPHECY AGAINST EGYPT
Isaiah gave warnings to the Israelites not to seek help from Egypt. God was going to stir up Egyptians to fight against each other. Their counsel came from consultation with the spirits of the dead, the medium and spiritist (vs. 2-3). A fierce king was coming to rule over them. Pharaoh’s wise counselors gave senseless advice. They were led into humiliating defeat (vs. 14-15).
Isiah saw the future of both the Jews and the Egyptians. When the Lord will establish His kingdom, Egypt will turn to Israel for help. Assyria and Egypt will turn to the Lord and worship together. The Lord will bless them saying: “Blessed by Egypt, my people, Assyrian, my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance” (v. 24)[:]
