[:en]SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 46
“Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4)
“Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: “My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please” (Isaiah 43:9-10)
“From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do” (Isaiah 46:11)
CONTRAST OF TRUE GOD AND IDOL:
1. Idols are made by man but God made man. God exists since the beginning. He is the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
2. Idols burden men as he must be carried but the true living God not only carries you but He also carries your burden.
3. Idols cannot plan to do anything, but God does what he please. He plans and fulfills his purpose.
4. Idols cannot move but God is present everywhere.
5. Idols cannot hear nor speak but God answers your prayers.
6. Idols have eyes that cannot see but God sees everything that you do.
An idol is something that we value and serve more than God. It is a substitute for God. Martin Luther said that “All such as rely and depend upon their art, wisdom, strength, sanctity, riches, honor, power or anything else” are guilty of worshiping idols.
