[:en]SCRIPTURE READING:  ISAIAH 51

“The ransomed of the Lord will return.  They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads.  Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away” (Isaiah 51:11)

I, even I, am he who comforts you.  Who are you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction?” (Isaiah 51:12-13)

“For I am the Lord your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar – the Lord Almighty is his name.  I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand – I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, “You are my people” (Isaiah 51:15-16)

The nation of Israel was preparing to leave Babylon and return home.  God reminded them to do the following in strengthening their faith in Him:

  1.  Look to Abraham (v. 3)
  2. Listen to me and hear me (vs. 4-5)
  3. Lift up your eyes and consider my creation (v. 6)
  4. Awake and remember the exodus from Egypt (vs. 9-11)
  5. Rise up for I have taken out the cup of my wrath and put it into the hands of your tormentors (vs. 17-23)

Today, we should also do the following:

  1.  Look back to see the faithfulness of God.
  2. Listen to God’s voice by obeying His Words.
  3. Lift uip to see the wonderful and marvelous things He has created.
  4. Remember all the great things that God has done.
  5. Rise up for God had forgiven yours sins.  He will defeat your enemies.
