[:en]SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 61

“For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity.  In my faithfulness I will reward them and make an everlasting covenant with them.  Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples.  All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed” (Isaiah 61:8-9)

“I delight greatly int he Lord; my soul rejoices in my God.  For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels” *Isaiah 61:10-11)

“For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations” (Isaiah 61:11)

THE YEAR OF THE LORD’S FAVOR

The year of Jubilee is a time of releasing the slaves, cancelling all debts and making a new beginning.  The year of the Lord’s Favor will be releasing of captives, repairing and rebuilding of nation and rejoicing of their inheritance.  The Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and power spring up before all nations (v. 11)

GOD’S COMMISSION:

  1.  To preach the good news (v. 1a)
  2.   To bind up the brokenhearted (v. 1b)
  3. To proclaim freedom for the captives (v. 1c)
  4. To release the prisoners from darkness (v. 1d)
  5. To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of the vengeance of our God (v. 2a)
  6. To comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion (v. 2b)
  7. To bestow a crown of beauty, the oil of gladness and a garment of praise (v. 3)
  8. To rebuild the ancient ruins and restore devastated places (v. 4)

REWARDS GIVEN BY GOD

  1.  Aliens will shepherd your glocks and foreigners will work your fields and vineyard (v. 5)
  2. You will be called priest of the Lord and ministers of God (v. 6a)
  3. You will feed on the wealth and riches of nations (v. 6b)
  4. You will receive a double portion and rejoice in their inheritance with everlasting joy (v. 7a)
  5. You will be clothed with garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness (v. 10)
  6.  Righteousness and praise will spring up before all nations (v. 11)
