[:en]SCRIPTURE: JEREMIAH 6
“This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; as for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it’ (Jeremiah 6+:16)
“Hear, O earth: I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my law” (Jeremiah 6:19)
JERUSALEM UNDER SIEGE
Jeremiah saw the coming of the invasion and warned the people to flee for safety from jerusalem. There will be disaster and destruction when the enemy attacked them. He described it as fading daylight to growing shadow of evening. The enemy will siege Jerusalem and make their land desolate.
The nation was full of sickness and wounds. The false prophets gave false diagnosis and superficial remedy. They thought of peace but there was no peace as the nation was into judgment. Jeremiah called the people back to God by walking on the ancient path of good way. But the people did not listened and rejected and God’s law. So, when God’s wrath was upon them, there will be anguished and pain like a woman in labor. The people were like harden bronze and iron. God wanted to refine them but the refining goes on in vain. So, they were called rejected silver because the Lord has rejected them. (vs. 29-30)[:]
