[:en]SCRIPTURE:  JEREMIAH 14

“Have you rejected Judah completely?  Do you despise Zion?  Why have you afflicted us so that we cannot be healed?  We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there is only terror.  O Lord, we acknowledge our wickedness and the guilt of our fathers; we have indeed sinned against you.  For the sake of your name do not despise us; do not dishonor your glorious throne.  Remember your covenant with us and do not break it”  (Jeremiah 14:19-21)

“Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain?  Do the skies themselves send down showers?  No, it is you, O Lord our God.  Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this” (Jeremiah 14:22)

DROUGHT, FAMINE, SWORD

Because of their sins and evil ways, God brought drought, famine and sword to Judah and Jerusalem.  As long as the people refused to return to the Lord, God would not listen to their cry.  He would not accept their burnt offering and grain offering.  There will be no peace at all.  The false prophets were prophesying false vision, divination, idolatries and delusions of their own minds.  Their messages gave the people a false hope that never come.  The idols could not send rain nor healing.  Only the Almighty God of Zion can bring rain and give them everlasting hope.

Only the Almighty and powerful God can fill us with joy and peace that may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)[:]
