“A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down” (Ezekiel 30:4)
“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon” (Ezekiel 30:10)
“So I will inflict punishment on Egypt, and they will know that I am the Lord” (Ezekiel 30:19)
“I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries. Then they will know that I am the Lord” (Ezekiel 30:26)
A LAMENT FOR EGYPT
“Then they will know that I am the Lord” appeared four times. First, when God will set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed (v. 8). Second, when God will inflict punishment on Egypt (v. 19). Third, when God will strengthen the army of the king of Babylon but the army of Pharaoh will fall limp (v. 25). Fourth, when God will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries (v. 26)
PUNISHMENTS TO BE INFLICTED TO EGYPT:
- Sword will come to them and their wealth carried away (v. 4)
- Their lands will be desolate and their cities will lie in ruin (v. 7)
- Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon will come to destroy the land (v. 10)
- Idols and images will be destroyed (v. 13)
- The king of Pharaoh will fall by sword (v. 22)
- The Egyptians will be dispersed among nations and scatter through countries (v. 23)
