[:en]SCRIPTURE: EZEKIEL 31
“Which of the trees of Eden can be compared with you in splendor and majesty? Yet you, too, will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth below; you will lie among the uncircumcised, with those killed by the sword” (Ezekiel 31:”18)
A CEDAR IN LEBANON
This message was for Pharaoh who bragged about his indestructible nation. Assyria once was cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches towering high and overshadowing the forest. Abundant streams of water and deep string nourished it to make it grew tall and long. It became a nesting place for the birds of the air and its branches a birthplace for the beasts of the field. Nothing can compare it, not even the garden of God could rival its beauty. It became the envy of all the trees of Eden in the garden of God. But God handed it over to the most ruthless of foreign nations. It was brought down to the grave. God rebuked its pride and cast it into hell.
Here are God’s Word concerning PRIDE:
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (Proverbs 3:34)
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom” (Proverbs 11:2)
“The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: they will not go unpunished” (Proverbs 16:5)
“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18)
“Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor” (Proverbs 18:12)
“Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin!” (Proverbs 21:4)
“”Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips” (Proverbs 27:1-2)
“A man’s pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor” (Proverbs 29:23)
“”Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches” (Jeremiah 9:23)
Let us ask God to get rid of our pride and give us a humble heart to glorify Him.
