[:en]SCRIPTURE:  EZEKIEL 34

“As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, because my glock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered and has become food for all the wild animals, and because my shepherds didi not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock, therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the Lord:  This is what the Sovereign Lord says:  I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock.  I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves.  I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them” (Ezekiel 34-8-10)

“I will search for the lost and bring back the strays.  I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy.  I will shepherd the flock with justice.  As for you, my flock, this is what the Sovereign Lord says:  ‘I will judge between one sheep and another, and between rams and goats” (Ezekiel 34:16-17)

“You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign Lord” (Ezekiel 34:31)

SHEPHERD AND SHEEP (vs. 1-31)

The shepherd of Israel are supposed to take care of the sheep by feeding, healing, strengthening, protecting and searching them.  But they had ruled them harshly and brutally.  The sheep had wandered and scattered over the whole earth and became food for wild animals.  So, God was holding the shepherds accountable for their flock.  He was going to remove the shepherds and He will be the one to search and rescue them.  He will gather them from all countries and bring them back to their own land.  He will bind up the injured, strengthen the weak and shepherd the lock with justice.

God will judge between one sheep and another an between rams and goats (v. 16-17).  He will judge between the fat ahd the lean sheep (v. 20).  He will place on shepherd, David, to tend them and the Lord will be their God.  He will make a covenant of peace with them and send showers of blessings upon them.  They will live in safety without fear and with bountiful crops.  Then, they will know that the Lord is their God and that they are His people.

Today, Jesus Christ is the Great Shepherd.  He cares for His sheep and sends showers of blessings.  Are you willing to be His sheep under His care?  If you do, believe in Jesus and accept Him as your personal  Savior.[:]
