[:en]Thoughts from 1 Chronicles 19 [:]

[:en]When Nabash, king of the Ammonites died, David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanum, the son of Nabash.   But Hanun doubted their intent and thought that they came to explore and spy their country.  So when David’s men came, he seized them, shaved them, cut their garments in the middle of the buttocks and sent them away.  Greatly humiliated, David sent his army to fight against the Ammonites.  The Ammonites hired chariots and charioteers of Arameans.  During their encounter with David’s army, the Arameans and Ammonites fled.  When the vassals of Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated,m they made peace with David and became subject to him.  So the Arameans were not willing to help the Ammonites anymore.
