“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly[a] with your God” (Micah 6:8)
“You have observed the statutes of Omri; and all the practices of Ahab’s house; you have followed their traditions. Therefore I will give you over to ruin and your people to derision; you will bear the scorn of the nations” (Micah 6:16)
ISRAEL’S GUILT
- Ill-gotten wealth (v. 10)
- Dishonest scales (v. 11)
- Violence, lies and deceitfulness (v. 12)
GOD’S PUNISHMENT
- You will eat but not satisfied (v. 14a)
- You will store up but save nothing (v. 14b)
- You will plant but not harvest (v. 15a)
- You will press olives but not use the oil on yourselves (v. 15b)
- You will crush grapes but not drink the vine (v. 15c)
- You will bear the scorn of the nations ( v. 16)
REFLECTION:
Let us review God’s gracious acts towards us and express our gratitude to Him. Let us get rid of all our selfish desires, boastful intellectualism and vicious Christianity and yield to Him by obeying His words with our deeds.[:]
