[:en]SCRIPTURE: NAHUM 2
“The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel,
though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines” (Nahum 2:2)
“I am against you,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will burn up your chariots in smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will leave you no prey on the earth. The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.” (Nahum 2:13)
NINEVEH TO FALL (vs. 1-13)
A dramatic picture of the invasion when the attacker advanced against Nineveh. Their fortress ruined and vines were destroyed. Their soldiers and chariots stumble over one another rashing back and forth through the streets and squares. Their river gates are thrown opened and the pillars collapsed. The people were carried away as exiles and slaves. Their silver and gold were plundered. Their wealth and treasures were pillaged and stripped.
Assyria was identified with the lions in their sculptures. But sword will devour the young lions. Assyria will no longer roam nor kill because Judah would be restored like the splendor of Israel.[:]
