[:en]SCRIPTURE: ZECHARIAH 6
“Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jozadak. Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord. It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he[e] will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.” (Zechariah 6:11-13)
FOUR CHARIOTS (vs. 1-8)
There were four powerful chariots coming out from between two mountains – mountains of bronze. The first chariot was red, the second black, the third white and the fourth dappled. The four chariots represent the four spirits of heaven. The black horse went towards north, the white horse towards west, the red horse towards east and the dappled horse towards south. They went through the earth.
A CROWN FOR JOSHUA (vs. 9-15)
A silver and gold crown was being made for the high priest Joshua. Then the Lord Almighty said: “Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from the his place and build the temple of the Lord. It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne” (vs.12-13) This was symbolic of the coming Messiah, who would reign from the glorious temple. Zechariah urged them to live in future tense as they rebuild the temple. He told them of the “blessed hope” as an encouragement to continue on.
As we are doing God’s work, may this “Blessed Hope” motivate us to serve Him more eagerly and faithfully.
