[:en]SCRIPTURE:  LUKE 21

Bible Verses:

Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others.  All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” (Luke 21:3-4)

Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.  When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.” (Luke 21:8-9)

“But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves.  For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.  You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.  Everyone will hate you because of me.  But not a hair of your head will perish.  Stand firm, and you will win life. (Luke 21:14-19)

At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:27-28)

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Luke 21:33)

“Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36)

THE WIDOW’S OFFERING (vs. 1-4)

The widow only put in two very tmall copper coins, but Jesus honored her giving because she gave out of her poverty.

SIGNS OF THE END OF THE AGE (vs. 5-38)

The Fall of Jerusalem was predicted by Jesus.  Here are the events of the Last Days.

  1.  Many will come in God’s name and claiming to be God.
  2. Nation will rise again and kingdom against kingdom
  3. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in many places.
  4. They will persecute and imprison Christians.
  5. Parents, brothers, relatives and friends will betray you and put you to death.
  6. People will fall by the sword and taken as prisoners to all nations.
  7. There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars and heavenly bodies will be shaken
  8. Fig tree will sprout leaves

THOUGHTS:

  • God is interested in the proportion of how much is left and not  in the portion of how much is given.
  • We must beware of deception, prepare for persecution and trust the Holy Spirit to empower us in times of tribulation.
  • Beware of worldliness and the cares of this life. Strive to live in the light of eternity.
  • Be ready always because the Lord Jesus can return at any time.
