[:en]SCRIPTURE:  ACTS 3

Bible Verses:

“Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”  Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.  He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.” (Acts 3:6-8)

By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see. (Acts 3:19)

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, ” (Acts 3:19)

PETER HEALS THE CRIPPLED BEGGAR (vs. 1-10)

When Peter and John went to the temple, they saw a man crippled from birth begging at the temple gate called Beautiful.  When he saw Peter and John, he asked for money.   But Peter did not give him money.  Instead, he healed him by the name of Jesus.  The man began to walk and praise God.  When all people saw him, they were filled with wonder and amazement.

PETER SPEAKS TO THE ONLOOKERS (vs. 11-26)

Peter took the healing as an opportunity to present Christ and offer forgiveness to the nation.  God was giving Israel one more chance to turn from their wicked ways and receive their Messiah.  Blessings would come to the nation if they repent and believe.

APPLICATION:

  1.  The lame beggar asked for money but Peter gave him something better – the ability to walk.  We often ask God what we want but he gives us what we really need.
  2. Peter did the healing in the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.  When we are able to do something great, remember to give the glory to God.
  3. When the lame man began to jump and walk around, he praised God.  Always remember to thank God and praise Him for his care and protection.
  4. Peter used healing as an opportunity for them to believe and receive Christ as their Messiah and Lord.  Use whatever opportunities you have to speak up for Christ.
  5. The message of Peter called them to acknowledge their sin and repent.  The key to forgiveness is confessing your sin and turning from it.
