SCRIPTURE: REVELATION 8
BIBLE VERSES:
“As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” (Revelation 8:13)
THE SEVENTH SEAL AND THE GOLDEN CENSER (vs. 1-6)
John opened the 7th seal and saw 7 angels with 7 trumpets. Then another angel with a golden censor offers incense to the altar with the prayer of all the saints that reaches up before God. Then the angel filled the incense from the fire of the altar to hurl it on earth. Then came thunder, rublings, lightings and earthquake.
THE TRUMPETS (vs. 6-13)
SEVEN ANGELS SOUNDED THE TRUMPETS AND ITS EFFECT:
1ST ANGEL – Hail and fire mixed with blood hurled down upon the earth – 1/3 of the earth and 1/3 of the trees burned and and all the green grass was burned up.
2ND ANGEL – A huge mountain all ablaze was thrown into the sea. 1/3 of living creature in the sea died. 1/3 of the ships were destroyed.
3RD ANGEL – A great star name “wormwood” blazing like a torch fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. l/3 of the water turned bitter and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
4RD ANGEL – A third of the sun, 1/3 of the moon and l/3 of the stars was struck so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light and also a third of the night.
THOUGHTS:
SEVEN ANGELS / RECIPIENTS OF JUDGMENT:
1ST angel – the earth
2ND angel – the sea
3RD angel – the rivers / waters
4RD angel – the heavens
John used eagle flying in midair to warn of the terros yet to come which is swift and destructive. All people will experience the terrors but God has guaranteed believers from spiritual harm.
Judgment is sure to come. God is giving people the opportunity to turn from sin. Believers should help others turn to Him. The message of salvation must be preached to the whole earth.
