SCRIPTURE:  REVELATION 15

BIBLE VERSES:

Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty.  Just and true are your ways,  King of the nations.  Who will not fear you, Lord and bring glory to your name?  For you alone are holy.  All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” (Revelation 15:3-4)

SEVEN ANGELS WITH SEVEN PLAGUES (vs. 1-8)

John saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire.  Those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and number of his name were standing beside the sea holding harps singing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb, praising God’s great and marvelous deeds, his justice, holiness and righteousness.

Then, the tabernacle of the Testimony in the heavenly temple was opened.  “Out of the temple came the seven angels with seven plagues.  They were dressed in clear, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests.  Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels, seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God.  The temple was filled with smoke from the glory and power of God.  No one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed” (vs. 5-8)

THOUGHTS:

The seven angels have bowls of with and plagues to pour on the wicked world.  This reminds us of the plagues God sent to Egypt in Moses’ time.  God delivered Israel from Egypt and they sang a song of victory at the Red SEa.  Here in Revelation, John saw the tormented witnesses singing the song of triumph.

Comparison of Old Testament Judgment with the Incoming Judgment of God:

  1. God sent plagues to Egypt during Moses’ time / The 7 angels have bowls of wrath and plagues to pour on a wicked world.
  2. God delivered Israel from Egypt and they sang a song of Moses at the Red sea celebrating God’s deliverance. / The tribulation victors will sing the triumph song of the Lamb by the heavenly sea of glass celebrating the ultimate deliverance of God’s people from the power of Satan.
  3. The Tabernacle and temple was filled with smoke of the glory signifying God’s presence and blessings. / The smoke of glory John saw as a moment of God’s wrath to be poured out on the wicked world.
