[:en]Thoughts from 2 Chronicles 10 – 11[:]

[:en]Rehoboam succeeded Solomon as king in Jerusalem.  The people asked Rehoboam to lighten their harsh labor and heavy yoke.  King Rehoboam consulted the elders who had served Solomon and they advised him to give them a favorable answer.  But Rehoboam also consulted the young men who had grown up with him, and the young men told him to reject their request.  Because he listened to the advice of the young men, the 10 tribes of Israel rebelled and broke away from him and made Jeroboam their King.  Only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin remained with Rehoboam.[:]
