SCRIPTURE: REVELATION 22
BIBLE VERSES:
“The Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 22:5)
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.” *Revelation 22:13-14)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” (Revelation 22:17)
“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.” (Revelation 22:18-19)
THE RIVER OF LIFE (vs. 1-6)
The angel showed John the river of life flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb to the great city. There are tree of life in each side of the river bearing 12 crops of fruit yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are form the healing of the nations. There will be no curse and no night. God’s name will be on the foreheads of His servants who will serve Him. No light of lamp or sea are needed because Lord God will give them light and reign forever.
JESUS IS COMING (vs. 7-20)
John fell down to worship at the feet of the angel but the angel said: “Do not do it. I am a fellow servant with you and with your broders, the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God” (v. 8a). The angel told John not to seal up the words of the prophecy of this book. Let them continue to do what is right or wrong.
God proclaimed: “I am the Alpha and the Omega. the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. I am the Root and the offspring of David and the bright Morning Star”. He is giving records to everyone according to what he has done.
Those who are holy may have the right to the tree of life and enter the city. But those who practise magic acts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and those who loves and practise falsehood will be left outside. The bride is inviting everyone who is thirsty to come and enjoy the free gift of the water of life. Warning is given to anyone who adds to God’s words, plague will be added to him. Anyone who takes away His word, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city. God is coming. So be prepared!
THOUGHTS:
AS WE CONCLUDE THE BOOK OF REVELATION, LET US MEDITATE ON THE FOLLOWING:
- Christ is coming soon. Are you keeping His word? (v. 7)
- Do you worship God and God alone? (v.9)
- What reward will you be expecting from the Lord? (v. 12)
- Do you have the right to the tree of life and enter the Holy city? (v. 14)
- Are you willing to come to Him and take the free gift of the water of life? (v. 17)
- Have you been guilty of adding or subtracting the Word of God? (vs. 18-19)
- Are you ready for His coming? (v. 20)
