[:en]Rehoboam was 4l years old when he became king.  He reigned 17 years in Jerusalem.  Because Israel was unfaithful to God, and abandoned the law of the Lord, the king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem in the 5th year of King Rehoboam.  He carried off the treasures of the temple of the Lord and took the gold shields that Solomon had made.  When Rehoboam humbled himself, the Lord did not totally destroy him.  He rested with his father and Abijah, his son succeeded him as king.[:]
