[:en]Thoughts from 2 Chronicles 15[:]

[:en]The Spirit of God came upon Azariah, son of Obed, to encourage Asa saying:  “Be strong and do not give up for your work will be rewarded” (v. 7).  He  took courage and removed all the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin.  He repaired the altar and assembled all the people to make sacrifice to the Lord.  He and his people entered into a covenant to seek the Lord with all their hearts and soul.  He deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a repulsive Asherah pole (v.16).  Asa’s heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life.  There was no more war until the 35th year of Asa’s reign.[:]
