SCRIPTURE:  EXODUS 40

SETTING UP THE TABERNACLE (vs. 1-33)

The Setting of the Tabernacle consist of:

  1. The Ark of Testimony
  2. Table
  3. Lampstand
  4. Gold altar of incense
  5. Altar of Burnt Offering
  6. Tent of Meeting
  7. Anointing Oil
  8. All its utensils
  9. Basins

Aaron had to be washed with water and dressed in sacred garments, and be anointed.  His sons were also anointed and dressed in tunics to serve as priests.

THE GLORY OF THE LORD (vs. 34-38)

Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.  During their travels, if the cloud lifted out, they would set out.  But if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out until the day it lifted.  The cloud of the Lord was over the Tabernacle by day and fire was in the cloud by night.

THOUGHTS:

The Israelites were formerly slaves in Egypt.  But they were following the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire and carrying the Tabernacle they had built for God.  It ended up in the glory of God dwelling upon them.  In our Christian life, we begin as slaves of sin and are being redeemed by Christ and living with Him forever.
