[:en]Ahaz was 25 years old when he became king and he reigned in Jerusalem for 16 years. He did evil in the yes of the Lord. He worshipped Baal, burned sacrifices in the Valley of Ben Hinnom and sacrificed his sons in the fire. Therefore, the Lord handed him over to the king of Aram. They were defeated and taken as prisoners to Damascus. The king of Israel also inflicted heavy casualties on him. When they were attacked by Edomites and Philistines, King Ahaz asked help from Tiglath Pileser, King of Assyria but he gave him trouble instead of help. King Ahaz became more unfaithful to God and promoted wickedness in Judah. He rested and Hezekiah, his son succeeded him as king.[:]
