[:en]Thoughts from 2 Chronicles 33[:]

[:en]Manasseh was 12 years old when he became king and he reigned in Jerusalem for 55 years.  He did evil in the eyes of the Lord by following the detestable practices of other nations.  He rebuilt the high places, erected altars to Baal and made Asherah poles.  He bowed down to all starry hosts and worshiped them.  He sacrificed his sons in the fire and practised sorcery, divinations, witchcraft and consulted mediums and spiritists..   He took carved image and put it in God’s temple.  So the Lord brought the army of Assyrians and took Manasseh prisoner.  They put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon.  In his distress, he humbled himself and prayed to God.  The Lord listened to his plea and brought him back to Jerusalem.  Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.  He got rid of all the foreign gods and removed the images from the temple of the Lord and restored the altar of the Lord.  He rested with his fathers and Amon, his son succeeded him as king.

Amon was 22 years old when he became king and he reigned in Jerusalem for 2 years.  He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not humble himself before the Lord.  Amon’s officials assassinated him in his palace and the people killed all who plotted against King Amon.  They made Josiah, his son king in his place.[:]
