SCRIPTURE: JOSHUA 16
ALLOTMENT FOR EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH (vs. 1-10)
The descendants of Joseph were Ephraim and Manasseh. The allotment to Ephraim was stated in this chapter. The people of Ephraim did not dislodge the Canaanites but the Canaanites were required to do forced labor.
THOUGHTS:
It was Joseph who kept the Israelites alive during the seven years of famine. So his descendants reaped the benefits. His two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh were given the largest and most valuable land in the heart of Canaan. They had the greatest influence in the northern half of Israel because of Joseph’s faith and love and Jacob’s special blessings.
