SCRIPTURE:  PSALMS 3

MEMORY VERSE:

To the Lord I cry aloud, and he answers me from His holy hill”  (Psalms 3:4)

This Psalms was written by David when he fled from his son Absalom.  He asked God to protect him by being a shield around him.  He cried aloud and the Lord answers him.  The Lord had sustained him so that he was not afraid of ten of thousands that were against him.  He asked God to come up and strike all his enemies on the jaws and break their teeth.  And finally, he was assured of God’s deliverance.

THOUGHTS:

When you encounter fear, overcome it by trusting God for his protection in your darkest hour.  When everything seems to go against you, God is still for you.  If circumstances had turned against you, seek Him.

During the rebellion, David was able to sleep peacefully because he cried out to the Lord and the Lord heard him.  If you are lying awake at night worrying about circumstances you can not change, pour out your heart to God and thank Him that he is in control.  Then, sleep will come.

David’s call for God to strike his enemies was for the sake of justice.  He realized that faith in God’s timing was the answer to his question about the success the world had unfairly achieved.
