SCRIPTURE: PSALMS 15
MEMORY VERSE:
“Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?” (Psalms 15:1)
QUALIFICATIONS OF THOSE WHO MAY DWELL IN GOD’S SANCTUARY AND LIVE ON HIS HOLY HILL:
- His walk is blameless. (v. 2a)
- He does what is righteous. (v. 2b)
- He has no slander on his tongue. (v. 3a)
- He does no wrong to his neighbor. (v. 3b)
- He casts no slur on his fellowman. (v. 3c)
- He despises a vile man. (v. 4a)
- He honors those who fear the Lord. (v. 4b)
- He keeps his oath even when it hurts. (v. 4c)
- He lends his money without usury. (v. 5a)
- He does not accept a bribe against the innocent. (v. 5b)
THOUGHTS:
This Psalms gives an inventory of our walk, our work and our words in relationship with others. Let us ponder on these “qualifications” and do it in action so that we will be able to dwell in God’s sanctuary enjoying a deep relationship with God.
This Psalms summarized the 10 standards for living in our society:
- Blameless – good character
- Righteousness – do what is just and fair
- Honesty – speaks the truth
- No slandering – discipline his tongue
- Does no wrong – never be tempted to do evil
- Cast no slur – watch his mouth from insulting others
- Respect – honors God’s people
- Trustworthy – keep his promises and oaths
- Generous – lending money without usury
- Ungreedy – does not accept bribe to distort justice against the innocent
