Our Daily Scripture – 12/22/23 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALMS 25

MEMORY VERSE:

“Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” (Psalms 25:4-5)

When David was surrounded by enemies, the first thing he did was to cry out to the Lord.  He confessed his sins and trusted the Lord to show him His way>  God taught him His paths and guided him in truth..

DAVID PROCLAIMED THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD AS FOLLOWS:

  1. The Lord is loving and merciful (v. 6)
  2. The Lord is good and upright. (v. 8)
  3. The Lord is faithful. (v. 10)

WHAT GOD WILL DO TO THOSE WHO FEAR HIM:

  1.  He will instruct him in the ways chosen for him. (v. 12)
  2.  He will spend his days in prosperity and his descendants will inherit the land. (v. 13)
  3.  He confides in those who fear him and makes his covenant known to them. (v. 14)

DAVID PLEADED WITH GOD THE FOLLOWING:

  1.  Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. (v. 16)
  2.  The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish. (v. 17)
  3.  Look upon my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. (v. 18)
  4.  Guard my life and rescue me; (v. 20a)
  5.  Let me not be put to shame for I take refuge in you. (v. 20b)
  6.  Protect my integrity and uprightness because my hope is in you. (v. 21)
  7.  Redeem Israel, O God, from their troubles! (v. 22)

THOUGHTS:

David had plenty of enemies.  Our greatest enemy is Satan, who uses temptations – money, success, prestige, lust – to lead us astray.  The only way to avoid being tempted is to follow God’s guidance through His Word.  Read His Word to gain wisdom and God’s direction for your life.

To fear God is to recognize God’s attributes.  When we know God, we gain a clearer picture of ourselves as sinful, weak, frail and needy.  We will be humble enough to fall at His feet and choose His way.

When you have life’s problems, remember to cry out to the Lord.  He can take your problems and turn them into glorious victories.

“Integrity” and “Uprightness” are two powerful characteristics for a person to persevere in life’s journey.  Uprightness encourages us to learn God’s requirements and strive to fulfill it.  “Integrity” keeps us walking with God consistently.
