SCRIPTURE: PSALM 40
MEMORY VERSE:
“Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.” (Psalm 40:4)
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN DAVID WAIT PATIENTLY FOR THE LORD?

THOUGHTS:
BENEFITS DAVID RECEIVED FROM WAITING:
- God lifted him out of his despair.
- God set his feet on solid ground.
- God protected him as he walked.
- God put a new song of praise in his mouth.
David said that the acts of sacrificing animals in the Tabernacle were meaningless if there was no attitude of devotion to him. Today, we also have religious rituals of taking communions and offering tithes. These activities are also empty if we disobey God’s laws. For 1 Samuel 15:22 says: “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
David would speak of God’s faithfulness and salvation to those around him. We should also tell people what God has done for us and share the gospel of salvation to others.
God’s faithfulness is perfect. His love is absolute and His promises are irrevocable. In spite of our sinful nature, He still loves us and keeps all His promises to us.
