Our Daily Scripture – 1/11/24 (Thu)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 45

MEMORY VERSE:

“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.” (Psalm 45:6)

This Psalm is a wedding song written by the Sons of Korah.  It is a messianic Psalm as it shows Christ as the Royal Bridegroom and describes Messiah’s future relationship to the church.  Blessings of grace, splendor, majesty are given to Messiah.  He displays awesome deeds in truth, humility and righteousness. (v. 4).  He was anointed with the oil of joy.  His robes are grant with myrrh, sloes and cassia.  Palaces are adorned with ivory coupled with the music of strings.  It pictures church as the bride of Christ that has united with him forever with the riches blessings.

THOUGHTS:

Myrrh is a fragrant gum of an Arabian tree generally used in perfumes.  Aloes, a spice comes from a close-grained and fragrant wood.  Cassia was made from flowers of the cinnamon tree.  These expensive fragrances are usually used in king’s wedding.  this poetry pictures the unity of Christ with his bride, the Church.
