SCRIPTURE: PSALM 54
MEMORY VERSES:
“Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might. Hear my prayer, O God, listen to the words of my mouth.” (Psalm 54:1-2)
“Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” (Psalm 54:4)
When the Ziphites went to Saul and reported to him that David was hiding among them, David composed this Psalm.
DAVID’S PETITION :
- Save me, O God, by you name. (v. 1a)
- Vindicate me by your might. (v. 1b)
- Hear my prayer. O God. (v. 1c)
- Listen to the words of my mouth. (v. 1d)
- In your faithfulness, destroy those who slander me. (v. 5)
DAVID’S CONCLUSION:
- I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you. (v. 6a)
- I will praise your name, O Lord. (v. 6b)
- He has delivered me from all my troubles. (. 7a)
- My eyes have looked in triumph on my foes. (v. 7b)
THOUGHTS:
The Ziphites turned against David to win favor with King Saul. What David did was to pray to God and praise Him when God answered his prayer. When you encounter people that create problems for you, seek God’s help. He will surely protect and vindicate you against your enemies. And be sure to take time to praise the Lord when God answers your prayer.
