SCRIPTURE: PSALM 64
MEMORY VERSE:
“You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.” (Psalm 64:5)
DAVID’S PETITION:
- Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy. (v. 1)
- Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from that noisy crowd of evildoers. (v. 2)
WHAT THE ENEMIES OF DAVID DID:
- They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their words like deadly arrows. (v. 3)
- They shot from ambush at the innocent man; they shoot at him suddenly, without fear. (v. 4)
- They encourage each other in evil plans and talk about hiding their snares. (v. 5)
- They plot injustice. (v. 6)
WHAT GOD WILL DO:
- God will shoot them with arrows. (v. 7)
- God will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin. (v. 8)
WHAT THE PEOPLE SHOULD DO:
- All mankind will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done. (v. 9)
- They will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him. (v. 10a)
- They will praise him. (v. 10b)
THOUGHTS:
David expressed himself honestly to the Lord about his enemy’s attack because he knew that God would hear his voice. So, if there is any thing such as: enemy’s betrayal, slander, illness, disturbances, anxiety or discouragement that you are facing now, tell it to the Lord. God will always listen to you and he fully understands you.
