Our Daily Scripture – 1/31/24 (Wed)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 65

MEMORY VERSE:

 “You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.” (Psalm 65:5)

This is a harvest Psalm to thank God for His goodness and care.  The people were grateful and gave their thanksgiving.

THINGS TO THANK GOD::

  1.  He hears our prayer. (v. 2)
  2.  He forgives our transgressions. (v. 3)
  3.  He choose and brings us to live in His courts. (v. 4a)
  4.  He provides good things for us. (v. 4b)
  5.  He answers us with awesome deeds of righteousness. (v. 5)

THE MAJESTY OF GOD:

  1.  He formed the mountain by His power and armed himself with strength. (v. 6)
  2.  He stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves and the turmoil of the waters (v. 7)
  3.  He does wonders and calls forth songs of joy. (v. 8)
  4.  He cares for the land & water it and enrich it abundantly. (v. 9)
  5.  He fills the streams with water to provide people with grain. (v. 9b)’
  6.  He drenches its furrows and level its ridges.  He softens it with showers and bless its crops. (v. 10)
  7.  He crowns the year with bounty overflowing with abundance. (v. 11)
  8.  He overflows the grace lands of the desert and clothes the hills with gladness. (v. 12)
  9.  He covers the meadows with flocks and  the valleys are mantled with grain. (v. 13)

THOUGHTS:

This harvest Psalm glorifies God, the creator as reflected in the beauty of nature.  God’s care of nature is a sign of his love and provision.  Nature shows God’s generosity.  He gives us abundantly so that we must be grateful to him and be generous to others.
