Our Daily Scripture – 2/10/24 (Saturday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 75

MEMORY VERSE:

“We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near; men tell of your wonderful deeds.” (Psalm 75:1)

WHO IS GOD?

  1.  He choose the appointed time and judge uprightly. (v. 2)
  2.  He holds the pillars firm when the earth quakes. (v. 3)
  3.  He told the arrogant not to boast and to the wicked not to lift up their horns. (v. 4)
  4.  He told them not to lift their horns against heaven nor to speak with outstretched neck. (v. 5)
  5.  He can exalt a man anywhere. (v. 6)
  6.  He can pour out a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices to the wicked of the earth and they will drink it down to its very dregs. (v. 8)
  7.  He will cut off the horns of all the wicked and lift up the horns of the righteous. (v. 10)

The Psalmist Asaph gave thanks to God and sang praises to Him.

THOUGHTS:

God is the one who will choose the appointed time to judge the people.  We must wait for his timing and trust in His wisdom.

The Psalmist described the judgment of God to the wicked as:  drinking cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices.  It gives the impression of taking a dose of his own medicine.  To drink it down to its very dregs means to be punished severely and completely.
