SCRIPTURE: PSALM 86
MEMORY VERSES:
“You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.” (Psalm 86:5)
“Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord, no deeds can compare with yours.” (Psalm 86:8)
“Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” (Psalm 86:11)
“I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.” (Psalm 86:12)
“But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 86:15)
DAVID’S PETITION TO GOD:
- Hear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. (v. 1)
- Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you. (v. 2)
- Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long. (v. 3)
- Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, i lift up my soul. (v. 4)
- Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. (v. 6)
- Turn to me and have mercy on me, grant your strength to your servant and save the son of your maidservant. (v. 16)
- Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me. (v. 17)
DAVID PRAISED GOD FOR WHO HE IS:
- For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. (v. 10)
- For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave. (v. 13)
- But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (v. 15)
- For you, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me. (v. 17)
THOUGHTS:
3 IMPORTANT THIGS DAVID ASKED FROM GOD:
- Guard my life. (v. 2)
- Teach me your way; give me an undivided heart (v. 11)
- Grant me your strength (v. 16)
These are the things we should also ask from the Lord.
WHY ARE OTHER GODS IMCOMPARIBLE WITH OUR LORD?
- He is forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who calls him. (v.5)
- No other gods can compare the deeds with His. (v. 9)
- He is great and do marvelous deeds. (v. 10)
- Great is His love. (v. 13)
- He is compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (v. 15)
- He is a helper and comforter. (v. 17)
