Our Daily Scripture – 3/1/24 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 95

MEMORY VERSES:

“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.  Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” (Psalm 95:1-2)

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our maker for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” (Psalm 95:6-7)

WHAT WE SHOULD DO:

  1.  Sing for joy to the Lord. (v. 1a)
  2.  Shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. (v. 1b)
  3.  Come before him with thanksgiving. (v. 2a)
  4.  Extol him with music and song. (v. 2b)
  5.  Bow down in worship. (v. 6a)
  6.  Kneel before the Lord, our Maker. (v. 6b)

WHY SHOULD WE WORSHIP GOD?

  1.  For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. (v. 3)
  2.  In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. (v. 4)
  3.  The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. (v. 45)
  4.  He is our God and we are the people of this pasture, the flock under his care. (v. 7)

If we hardened our hearts and refuse to hear his voice, if we tested and tried Him, God’s anger will be upon us and we shall never enter His eternal rest.

THOUGHTS:

The Psalmist warned us against hardening our hearts as what the Israelites did in the wilderness.  Harding our hearts is resisting God’s will and losing faith in Him.  When our hearts are hardened, we become stubborn and follow our own ways.  God will torn us aside and we become useless and worthless.  We will not be able to enjoy God’s ultimate blessings of entering His rest.

WHAT KEEPS US FROM THE BLESSINGS OF ENTERING INTO HIS REST?

  1.  Ungrateful heart (v. 2)
  2.  Not worshiping or submitting to Him. (v. 6)
  3.  Hardening our hearts. (v. 8)
  4.  Testing God with stubborn doubts. (v. 9)
