Our Daily Scripture – 3/7/24 (Thursday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 101

MEMORY VERSES:

“I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will sing praise.” (Psalm 101:1)

“I will set before my eyes no vile thing.  The deeds of faithless men i hate; they will not cling to me.” (Psalm 101:3)

This Psalm was written by King David.  He stated “I WILL” 9 times as follows:

  1.  I will sing of your love and justice (v. 1a)
  2.  I will sing praise. (v. 1b)
  3.  I will be careful to lead a blameless life. (v. 2a)
  4.  I will walk in my house with blameless heart. (v. 2b)
  5.  I will set before my eyes no vile thing. (v. 3)
  6.  I will have nothing to do with evil. (v. 4)
  7.  I will put to silence whoever slanders his neighbor in secret. (v. 5a)
  8.  I will put to silence all the wicked in the land. (v. 8a)
  9.  I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord. (v. 8b)

WHAT DAVID HATED:

  1.  Vile thing (v. 3a)
  2.  Deeds of faithless men (v. 3b)
  3.  Men of perverse heart (v. 4a)
  4.  Evil things (v. 4b)
  5.  Slanderer (v. 5a)
  6.  Men with haughty eyes and a proud heart (v. 5b)
  7.  One who practices deceit (v. 7a)
  8.  One who speaks falsely (v. 7b)
  9.  Wicked men (v. 8a)
  10.  Evildoer (v. 8b)

THOUGHTS;

David was determined to have a perfect blameless heart.  He hated perverse and proud heart.  As a king, he wanted to enforce justice in the land.  David said that he would keep his eyes on the godly.

We should also choose friends who are fruitful and godly because they have profound influence on our life.  Keep your eyes on those who are faithful to God and His Word.
