Our Daily Scripture – 3/8/24 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 102

MEMORY VERSE:

“Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry for help come to you.  Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress” (Psalm 102:1-2)

LAMENT OF AN AFFLICTED MAN:

  1.  My days vanish like smoke; my bones burn like glowing embers. (v. 3)v
  2.  My heart is blighted and withered like grass; I forget to eat my food. (v. 4)
  3.  I am reduced to skin and bones. (v. 5)
  4.  I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins. (v. 6)
  5.  I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof. (v.7)
  6.  My enemies taunt me; those who rail against me use my name as a curse. (v. 8)
  7.  I eat ashes as my food and mingle my drink with tears (v. 9)
  8.  I have been thrown aside. (v. 10)
  9.  My days are like the evening shadow, I wither away like grass. (v. 11)

THE FAITH OF THE AFFLICTED MAN

  1.  But you, O Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. (v. 12)
  2.  You will arise and have compassion on Zion. (v. 13)
  3.  The nations will fear the name of the Lord, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory. (v. 15)
  4.  The Lord will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory. (v. 16)
  5.  The Lord hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death. (v. 20)
  6.  The Peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the Lord. (v. 22)
  7.  You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. (v. 25)
  8.  They will perish, but you remain (v. 26)
  9.  You remain the same, and your years will never end. (v. 27)
  10.  The children of your servants will live in your presence; and their descendants will be established before you. (v. 28)

THOUGHTS:

The writer of this Psalm felt rejected because of his great trouble.  The sickness and heartache had caused him to feel that God had rejected him.  But he remembered God the creator is eternal and faithful.  So he got comfort and strength from Him.  When you encounter same kind of feelings as the Psalmist, remember that God is always present and active and enthroned forever.  He will remain the same and his year will never end.  He cares for you and he will never forsake you.
