SCRIPTURE: PSALM 118
MEMORY VERSES:
“The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies” (Psalm 118:7)
“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes” (Psalm 118:8-9)
“The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation” (Psalm 118:14)
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24)
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” (Psalm 118:29)
This Psalm is a song of praise thanking God for deliverance from a difficult situation. They depended on the name of the Lord (vs. 10-12) and the hand of the Lord (vs. 15-16) to give them victory. When you are being confronted by the enemy, cry out to God. He will set you free (v. 5) and open the gates for you to enter. (vs. 19-20)
THOUGHTS:
When we ride buses, cars, trains, ship or airplane, we put confidence on them to get to our destination. We must also trust God to guide us here on earth to reach our eternal destination. Remember to trust God more than human beings. As we read this Psalm, we can relate to the feelings of the writer. The Psalmist’s are honest with God by talking to Him and ending with praise. Similarly, all of us are faced with problems, sorrows, troubles and anxieties. We should also tell God how we feel. God will give us a reason to rejoice. Live to serve him and be glad.
